FOTD: Smokey eyes and sparkly lips!

Tonight i did a smokey eye with a berry lip. I never usually wear bright lips and it tends to make me look paler (which it did) but i still quite liked it. My eyes were my usual smokey eyes using my MAC smokey eye palette.

I used four of the colours, first of all the pale peachy beige colour, all over the lid up to the brow bone. Then i went over the inner corners with the pale silver. (love this as a highlight!) I then used my favourite eyeshadow, Satin Taupe (the middle colour on the left) on the outer third of my eye and then intensified the outer corner with the darkest brown.

I then used my no7 brown liquid eyeliner along the top of the lash line and used my favourite mascara; Rimmel Extra Super Lash.

For my lips i went for abit of sparkle because it's nearly christmas! It's a new lipgloss from Avon, called Sparkle in the colour 'Rave'. It's a red/berry pink colour with lots of sparkle!

On my cheeks i used my NARS laguna bronzer to contour and then my prestige minerals to highlight.

DIY hair cut & Navy Liner!

Woo i have a post for you girls! lol! Grabbed my dads camera for a few minutes so i can actually get some better quality pictures. Anyway, i'm trying to grow my fringe out to the side, but it's not going so well. I just don't think i suit not having a fringe so i trimmed it a little to give it more structure but still kept it to the side.

From this;

to this;

Nothing too dramatic but it looks alot better and more structured! :)

I'm also wearing a blue top today with my cute little blue and black square scarf;

so i thought i would experiment with my eyes and use it as a way of incorporating some colour and trying out that navy blue eyeliner!

I used the eyeliner but i also pushed a little well-matched navy eyeshadow through it aswell, just to help intensify the colour. I kept the base colour a very neutral gold because i'm not one for lots of eye make-up but it also helps the blue stand out more.
I'm loving this! Especially on my brown eyes!
A simple but effective way to add colour! :)

Clothing Haul!!

I hit the shops yesterday, well mostly Primark i'll admit but still! Shopping is shopping :) I got some nice things i thought i'd show you!!

First up, i took some boots back that i ordered and were too small so i got a refund. I wanted to replace them so i got some cute everyday ankle boots!

I think because i'm quite short (5'4!) i suit ankle boots better because sometimes taller boots can shorten me even more! I like the stud detail on these also as it matches my new bag!

I also picked up a few scarves/pashminas!

The one on the left is fro river island and i absolutely love it! The colours and the pattern wil brighten up any outfit or coat! I'm also loving animal print which is why i got this nice grey one!

I also picked up two cardigans, a short brown v neck cardi and a long black boyfriend cardigan (which i lost last night, woops!!) I also got a grey polo neck with cute button detail on the sleeves;

i think it will go quite nicely with my animal print scarf!! I also picked up some leggings and i have to say for primark i really love them! They're quite thick and not that horrible cheapy material. I got a really nice dark 'slate' colour and a black pair with lace detail at the bottom;

I love everything i got i'm just a little annoyed i lost my cardigan through drunken times! haha! (Go here to read about my night) Oh well atleast it was only from Primark! I'll never learn...

What have you bought new lately??

Successful winter layering!!

It's getting colder, more winter than autumn! High winds, cold day and lots of rain! I work in a shop for the time being and we have to keep the door open so people know we are open, also when we get delivieries, we have the back door open, so i freeze! So i discovered the art of layering without looking ten times larger than i actually am!

sorry this pic is horrible quality!

This was my outfit for work the other day. First i layered a plain fitted grey vest top with a H&M checked shirt-which i love! I choose the colour grey because that's the lightest colour in the shirt, but it could have worked with the pink aswell. You can see i have made sure the vest is visible under the shirt by choosing a longer vest so you can see part of it at the bottom. I also unbuttoned the shirt a little so you can see that 'v' of vest at the bust, this is also quite flattering and good if you have a larger bust.

This helps in not making you look bigger, because the vest clings to your figure, unlike most shirts which tend to be a little baggier and don't sit flat against the skin. I then put a simple grey cardigan over the top for an extra layer and to tie in the colours.

All in all, i'm loving checked shirts with straight leg jeans and my new heeled boots for the winter! ( See post below!)

What are you loving this winter??

My new love!

I got these today after falling in love the minute i put them on! Originally i didnt really like them by the appearance, but i wanted some straight leg jeans to wear with boots, so just grabbed them and took them to the changing room to see how the jeans would look. What am i talking about?

These beauties;

They're from newlook and were £75! But they just fit so nicely and the leather is super soft! I could not leave the store without them! I will probably team them with something like this;

I would also wear these with thick tights, a blouse and a black jersey skirt or a long tunic dress when it's colder!

What would you wear them with?

Quick & Easy Hair Of The Day!

As i don't work mornings, my time has been spent watching the lovely Holly Willoughby on This Morning! I've always loved her hair and she always has it effortlessly styled, so i recently tried out one of her simple hair styles.

I was only popping out to Newlook, so i didn't want to look to 'done', especially for a Sunday. But i always just wear my hair down and straight, which i'm getting a bit bored of! I don't wear my hair up much and as of yet, i don't own any hair curlers (i want the conical wand desperately!), not that my hair holds curls very well anyway!

This is a variation of the half up, half down look, which personally, i really dislike on myself! It transports me back to when i was 5 years old and makes me look alot younger. However this is a more subtle and 'girl-next-door' look, rather than 'little girl'. It also adds a bit of volume to the sides of my hair, rather than the hair being flat against my head. And a bonus, it only takes about 2 minutes!

Whats your favourite way to wear your hair??

Barbara Daly at Tesco Make Up,

I went into Tesco to look at the make-up as i'm in desperate need of a new foundation, as my beloved Revlon Colorstay is making me breakout. The Barbara Daly range really stuck out at me today; i haven't tried anything from here before, i've just looked over it and stuck with products i know. I must have been feeling adventurous today because i came out with 4 products! Foundation, concealer, highlighter and 1 lipstick. I did want the eye base but they had none left in stock!

First grabs, I got the Moisture foundation in shade 'Porcelain'. This looks a similar consistency to my beloved Revlon Colorstay, thick but not too thick and it doesnt look cakey. They describe it perfectly as 'lightweight yet creamy..' It blended very well into my hand and covered nicely. It also has an added bonus of SPF 20 and is a good colour match! Most of the 'porcelain' or 'ivory' shades in other brands are much too dark for me! Definately looking forward to using this one tomorrow!

The next thing i decided to get was the concealer. At the moment, i don't own a concealer and i have never really used one but i decided, every girl needs a concealer just in case! haha! This reminded me of Mac's Studio Finish concealer in terms of coverage and texture.

A product that caught my eye last week, did the same again today so i knew i had to buy it! It's a products called 'glow up' and is 'A luminous, multi-reflective highlighter for face and body.' I don't use a highlighter because i'm usually afraid of it making me look oily or powdery, depending on which product you use, rather than glowing. This however, is more like a mousse and is non-oily.

The last product i picked up was a lipstick. I was originally looking for a nude, milky coloured lipgloss but i felt the colour range in the lipsticks and lipglosses were a bit limited, there wasn't many pale colours in my Tesco, except for this one in 'Innocent'.

It's a nice pale pink but not too milky. At the moment, i have really dry, chapped lips and this didn't accentuate that at all. They have a really soft formula and you don't need to have a gloss over the top if you don't want. I also think it would look lovely layered with a paler lipstick underneath to bring out the colour more. These are really lovely with just enough shimmer, i just wish they had colours that were more 'me'!

So i'm glad i decided to branch out of my comfort zone! The prices are really good for the standard of the products and I really love the sleek, minimal packaging!

What do you like from this range?
